Hi everyone.
I am sitting with a jug of sheng with no name. Vendor told me it was made by those Dai minority villagers in 100gms round cakes. I am from Petaling Jaya, W.Malaysia by the way, and got hooked on puerh for the last 10 months. Never knew it was such a lovely drink before that. Now I brew them everyday.
I like sheng of cos. Have some shu, but seldom use them. Most of my stuff are pretty young though. Recently purchased a set of Yang Pin Hao Ancient Six Famouse Tea Mountains Cakes, 4 pieces of Mengyang Gouyang Star of Bulang, 1 piece of 2006 Menghai 0622 batch 601 660gms cake, about 40 pieces of Xiaguan 2003 tuos, and the assorted stuffs through the months I started on this pricey drink. No regrets even when I have to plunge into my Fixed Deposit for this addictive passion. The most expensive purchase was a 80's 300gms raw brick from a taiwanese vendor for Ringgit 680-00 (abt US195). That was a purchase that took me 2 months to decide and that too was by foregoing a short holiday trip. Once awhile I'll scratch some leaves from this 'old man' to neutralize a bad day.
This drink just grows on you, but leave your wallet dry the time you walk out of the store. The real sad thing is, by the time you get your next paycheck, you head straight back to those stores to be cleaned out again. We will never be able to finish all the stuff we buy till the day we die, but we fooled ourselves by saying that we are just buying extra so the kids and the families down the line will get to 'inherit' our collection. What a pot of baloney ! Then again we humans are a greedy lot ain't we, thinking that the cakes and brinks we now buy will someday turn into gold. Whether it will be gold or 'fools gold', I don't really care. I JUST LOVE THIS DRINK.
